介绍

Jardin Orange (“Orange Garden”) is an urban artist residency in the north of Shenzhen, China. It has been host to and continuously strives to promote each year talented visual artists (young and experienced) from China and abroad within the burgeoning Chinese art market since 2016. The overall mission of this residency project is to become an active participant in creating the region's artistic growth as well as to become a “magnet” residency that attracts and supports young and experienced artists in their careers.   Equipped with a growing team of graphic/3d designers and assistants, all artists come here to work both independently and collaboratively on a new series, with the potential of extending their work into cross-over products and both public and private commercial venues.

This residency, in particular, is for artists to come explore their personal stylistic boundaries, to attempt things that they haven't done before, to experiment with new techniques and to consider the advice of others when creating non-canvas works. We strive to encourage, in every step of the creative process, the forward motion and evolution of each artist that pushes them ahead in their professional journey. Jardin Orange Artist Residency is designed as an opportunity for artists to intensively pursue creative work away from their home setting and to welcomely embrace the modern Chinese urban setting.

Jardin Orange Artist Residency (JO) offers Artists-In-Residence (AIR) a safe, quiet and friendly environment to spend extended residencies between 30-60 days.

可以申请:

We are looking to host recognised international and regional artists so they can develop their creative visions to new limits and to work on a series of sculptures, canvases and 3d cross-over designs that can then be then displayed and sold to business, private collectors and displayed in exhibitions/fairs.

Unfortunately, we are not equipped for hosting the performing arts, music, videography, temporary installations / large sculptures and “old-school” photography processing.

JO offers 4 to 8-week residencies throughout the year. The goal is to host around 2-3 artists per month. This means, potentially, dozens of artists are provided the opportunity to live and work at Jardin Orange Artist Residency each year.

There are two types of residencies: "local" (those residing in the SZ/HK/GZ area) and "foreigner" (those invited/fly from abroad). Foreigners are usually invited months ahead of time, however "local" residency applications are being reviewed on a rolling basis.

Artists are expected to commit to this mission: Jardin Orange offers each artist the autonomy and space to engage in his or her personal stylistic exploration; the artist is thought to be: flexible, willing to push beyond one’s comfort zone and boldly experiments with new variants of his/her artistic expression, use of materials and techniques.
