Introduction

FQ Projects is an independent project space devoted to building active platforms and communities for contemporary artists. We are based in a traditional Shanghai lane neighborhood——Huai Hai Fang (used to be Xia Fei Fang). It is a historical lane commissioned by C.I.C.M missionaries and a residential neighborhood favored by Shanghainese bourgeois class in 1920s.

FQ Projects Artist Residency is a cross-cultural interdisciplinary program, open to artists and scholars around the world to carry out research and make art in the provided time. We are located in a lane neighborhood next to the subway. Some of the most busiest blocks in Shanghai: Huai Hai Middle Road, Fuxing Park, Xin Tian Di, Tian Zi Fang are in walking distance.

The residency is open for application all year round. Whoever comes can learn about Shanghai and our very interesting lane culture in relation to urbanization, reflect on the physical and sociocultural context of FQ Projects and present their practice to the community in creative forms.
