Here's a list of deadlines for residencies, call for papers, job opportunities & lots of different things you can apply for that have a connection to China. 


RESIDENCIES + FUNDING: 

M Literary Residency in Shanghai is calling for writers with an interest in China to apply for a 6 to 8 week funded residency. Apply before January 1, 2018.

NYU Shanghai's Emerging Writer Teaching Fellowship in Creative Writing seeks writers with an MFA or PhD in creative writing with at least one book published or under contact with a reputable press, or a produced play or film, to teach, research and write for a full year. Apply before January 15.

The Goethe Institute in Beijing is calling for Germany-based performing artists to apply for a three months residency at the Institute For Provocation (deadline January 15, 2018) and for visual artists at i: project space (deadline June 1, 2018). Apply here.

Khooshk and Organhaus in Chongqing are calling for Iranian artists for a one month residency exchange in April & July. Apply before January 30.

Beijing City International School, in collaboration with Red Gate Residency, invites proposals from visual artists interested in working with 100 international elementary students in Beijing for the month of April 2018. Apply before February 4

Found Sound Nation is hosting 2 different open calls for musicians. The first one is One Beat, which is looking for musicians from around the world who are interested in cultural diplomacy. The program consists in encouraging collaboration while engaging in a month-long tour across the U.S. It covers visas and transportations costs. It is free to attend and provides fellows with a $500 stipend plus a small cash allowance for daily expenses. It will take place in between New Smyrna Beach Florida; Charleston, South Carolina; Washington DC; Baltimore, Maryland and NYC. Apply before February 9!  Their second open call is for Found Sound China, which calls for eight music producers -- 4 from the U.S. and 4 from China -- for a month of sound collection and collaborative music production across various areas in China. Apply before February 19. Unfortunately, Macao and Hong Kong citizens are not eligible for either of these opportunities. 

Asian American Arts Alliance is granting eight-month Fellowships to one early-career Asian American visual artist and one early-career Asian American visual arts curator, age 30 or younger, whose work shows outstanding promise. The fellowship includes cash stipend of $12,000, mentorship with a midlevel artist/curator and technical support. There is an open studio on February 6 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at the Alliance's offices in DUMBO, Brooklyn. Apply before March 15

Artists travelling on a #slowtrain to or in China can apply anytime for a virtual residency to takeover our Instagram account.

The Hong Kong Art Gallery Association's Artist Residency Abroad Funding Scheme provides up to HK$15,000 for Hong Kong artists seeking artist residencies abroad. Applications accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed quarterly, and artists should apply to their own residency programmes prior to applying.

The Asian Arts Initiative in Philadelphia seeks proposals for guest curators working with contemporary and Asian American community-based projects, providing $1,000 honorarium and $1,500 in artists fees, travel costs and other expenses.


PAPERS, WORKSHOPS, RESEARCH:

The Tate Research Centre: Asia Visiting Fellowship Scheme in London is seeking scholars and curators of modern and contemporary Asian art. Apply before January 8.

Para Site in Hong Kong is seeking proposals from emerging curators. Apply by January 15.   

The International Institute for Asian Studies invite submissions on "Rethinking Communities" for the 3rd Asiascape: Digital Asia (DIAS) conference in the Netherlands in May 2018. Submit proposals before February 1 2018.


FESTIVALS, FAIRS + EXHIBITIONS:

Our dumpling party is February 18th at Moodring in NYC, and people from all over the world can sing up to host their own during the month of February. 

The Guangzhou Image Triennial "Simultaneous Eidos" runs from December 15, 2017 to March 8, 2018 at the Guangdong Museum of Art.

Art Basel and Art Central happen in Hong Kong during the last week of March. 

The submission deadline to exhibit in The Gallery's 5th exhibition season at The Armory Show in NYC is 11th Feb, 2018. More info on the application and about The Gallery can be found here
