Crystal loved helping great projects happen in China, and she herself had a very eclectic art practice that spanned video, photography, design, fashion, food and street art. For the inaugural residency in her memory, we'll choose an artist from any discipline who proposes to make something new, exciting, and that's never been done before in Beijing. There are no restrictions on the artists' mediums, age, nationality, ethnicity, gender, or any other criteria. This is a wide open call and we look forward to reading your diverse applications.
The artist selected will be awarded a fully-funded three month residency from December 2014 until February 2015. Travel and visa costs will be covered, and the artist will be given a stipend for materials and additional living expenses. Applicants must have a valid passport and be willing and able to travel to Beijing for the entire duration of the residency.
This opportunity is in no way limited to visual artists -- writers, filmmakers, curators, chefs, choreographers, musicians, designers, makers & tinkerers and more are all invited to apply.
Applications are now closed, and we will be announcing the winning and shortlisted artists on November 6th.
Application fees are not required, however we are requesting a suggested donation of USD $10 to support administrative costs for this initiative.
