RESIDENCIES + FUNDING: 

Australia Council for the Arts is providing a six month fully-funded residency at the Institute for Provocation in Beijing. Apply before October 3.

Pantocrator in Suzhou is calling for artist to apply for their 2017/2018 residencies before October 30.

Asian Cultural Council is now accepting applications for their 2018 grant cycle. This year, there are a few new restrictions in place, so make sure to check out the new guidelines and apply here before November 9th. 

Arte Laguna Prize is offering 11 residencies worldwide, including at the Swatch Art Peace Hotel in Shanghai, as well as cash prizes and opportunities for exhibitions. Apply by November 16 (application fee of 50 euros per work.)

Asia Art Archive is accepting submissions for their  Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Greater China Research Grant  for a "one-year fellowships to up to three individuals to study AAA’s Collection and develop historical research projects on topics relating to contemporary art in Mainland China, Taiwan, Macau, and Hong Kong." Apply here before Nov. 26th.

China Residencies, i: project space & The Neighborhood are calling for DJs & performers to apply for a 2 month funded residency in Beijing in February & March. Apply here before December 15.

M Literary Residency in Shanghai is calling for writers with an interest in China to apply for a 6 to 8 week funded residency. Apply before January 1 2018.

NYU Shanghai's Emerging Writer Teaching Fellowship in Creative Writing seeks writers with an MFA or PhD in creative writing with at least one book published or under contact with a reputable press, or a produced play or film, to teach, research and write for a full year. Apply before January 15.


The Goethe Institute in Beijing is calling for Germany-based performing artists to apply for a three months residency at the Institute For Provocation (deadline January 15, 2018) and for visual artists at i: project space (deadline June 1, 2018). Apply here.

The Hong Kong Art Gallery Association's Artist Residency Abroad Funding Scheme provides up to HK$15,000 for Hong Kong artists seeking artist residencies abroad. Applications accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed quarterly, and artists should apply to their own residency programmes prior to applying.


PAPERS, WORKSHOPS, RESEARCH:

The Organization of American Historians is calling for "three U.S. historians to each teach a one-week seminar in residence at a Chinese university and three Chinese historians of the United States to attend the OAH Annual Meeting and spend a week in residence at a U.S. university." Apply before October 16.

China-UK Connections Through Culture allow "artists or members of arts organisations to visit their counterparts in China or the UK for up to ten days, to develop projects, exchange skills or see others' work." Apply before November 3. 

NYU Shanghai is hiring a Resident Research Fellow Interactive Media Arts with skills in animation, audio and video production / computation, data mining, analysis and visualization / cyberculture and ethnography / design, prototyping and manufacturing / mobile, wearable and ubiquitous computing / participatory and social media / physical computing and robotics / virtual / mixed reality, and gaming. Apply before December 10.

The Journal of Chinese Cinema is calling for proposals on the theme of "Chaotic Formats: Video, Moving Images, Cinematic Displays". Send abstracts by December 15.

The 12th Association for Cultural Studies "Crossroads in Cultural Studies" conference will be held in Shanghai in August and is seeking proposals & panel ideas. Send proposals before December 20.

The Tate Research Centre: Asia Visiting Fellowship Scheme in London is seeking scholars and curators of modern and contemporary Asian art. Apply before January 8.

Para Site in Hong Kong is seeking proposals from emerging curators. Apply by January 15.   

The International Institute for Asian Studies invite submissions on "Rethinking Communities" for the 3rd Asiascape: Digital Asia (DIAS) conference in the Netherlands in May 2018. Submit proposals before February 1 2018.


FESTIVALS, FAIRS + EXHIBITIONS:

Apply for a free table at The Print Lab & L8-06 Gallery of Hong Kong Open Printshop, who are turning their space into a Pop Up Zineshop during the Hong Kong Graphic Art Fiesta. Apply by October 6.

b.creative Shanghai, a summit on creative entrepreneurship and urban challenges, is happening on November 15. Free to attend, register here.

Asia Contemporary Art Week is taking place in New York from October 5th - 26th, bringing "together leading New York and Asia-based art institutions, museums and galleries to present the largest showcase of cutting-edge exhibitions, innovative projects, provocative dialogues on current topics, and networking opportunities."
